Having in mind that French provincial style is all about a clean and bright colour pallet and clean I opted for a white bed frame with a unique wainscoting details made from durable mahogany. I got a white dresser that perfectly matched the bed frame. To recreate the look of the lavender fields I got white curtains with purple flowers and a mirror with a light purple frame. My husband likes to read before bed, so to make him a nice reading nook I got a rattan armchair and a white side table where I put a few of his favourite books and a picture of our honeymoon. To add a splash of colour I soft pillows in red and orange colours and arranged them neatly on the bed. With a bit of creativity and effortless elegance of French provincial furniture I create my dream bedroom where my husband and I can spend wonderful moments together and dream of the dazzling beauty of Provence.
There is something truly magical and unique about the French countryside. The charming hilltop villages with their narrow streets and graceful fountains flowing with crustal clear water, the beautiful vineyards producing delicious wine and the whole sense of history that is reflected in the architecture and the interior of the divine French provincial houses simply invite you to immerse yourself and drink in all that beauty scattered across the seemingly endless lavender fields. The first time I visited Provence was during my honeymoon and my husband and I instantly feel in love with the dazzling French countryside. When we were there the lavender season was in full peak, which happens at the end of July to mid-August, so the landscape was coloured in rich purple hue and there was a wonderful aroma in the air. We stayed in Ansouis, which is a pretty secluded village that has tiny cute streets and lovely artists' workshops. We spend our days enjoying the bright sunshine while drinking aromatic coffee on the terrace of our hotel and walking the streets while admiring the old stone houses, which were built during the 15th century. Be the thing that I love the most about Ansouis is its glorious medieval castle that is furnished with antique pieces dating back to the 17th century and features splendid tapestries. It colourful exterior gardens further enhance the charm of the old architecture. We returned home in Melbourne carrying wonderful memories with us and whenever I think about our romantic honeymoon I just want to be transported to Provence and run holding hands with my loved one across the endless lavender fields and small stone streets. Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up each day surrounded by lovely ambience of the hilltop villages, after all a home is made of love and dreams and both my husband and I share the same love for France. Since we can't travel that often to Provence due to our busy work schedule, I decided to bring the charm of the French countryside in our home with the help of Provincial bedroom furniture. I like how the Provincial style furniture has a simple yet sophisticated design and is the perfect combination of comfort and elegance. I figured since the bedroom is such an intimate and special room in the house it would be the perfect place to display the beauty of the Provincial interior design. I went online to look for some well-designed Provincial bedroom furniture and to be honest I was overwhelmed with the wade range of options. With so many beautiful pieces how is one supposed to make a choice. Do I choose a beige bedroom dresser, or a white one and then again maybe I should go for one with golden details? I was really dealing with a major dilemma. I searched for pictures of French provincial bedroom to get some inspiration and after much thinning I finally created the big picture of how I want my bedroom to look.
